Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system is comprised of a network of specialised tissues, vessels, and organs. Together they collect and transport a colourless fluid from the tissues, known as lymph. The lymphatic system carries vital substances for the defence of the body and removes waste products. This lymph is moved through specific structures and lymph nodes. The lymph nodes act as filters and remove dead cells, noxious substances such as tattoo dyes.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage or MLD is a very specialized technique, and an advanced therapy. The specific and gentle, rhythmic, pumping techniques are applied to the skin which is moved in the direction of lymph flow. The techniques used in MLD helps to remove the excess fluid from the tissues in the body, known as lymph, and via specific and specialised structures delivers it back to the circulatory system where the kidneys filter and remove the excess fluid.
