Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage was developed in the 1930's by Dr Emil Vodder. MLD consists of a range of unique movements which brought relief from chronic conditions.
MLD uses a special and specific form of therapy where the therapist uses specific techniques of gentle pressure and rhythmic pumping movements of light touch to the skin. These movements are in the direction of lymph flow. This stimulates the lymphatic vessels, these vessels are located just under the skin layer.
These vessels carry vital substances involved in the body's defence system and remove waste products from the cells.
Some of the benefits of MLD are:

- May promote the healing of sprains, strains, and fractures
- Relieves fluid congestion from chronic conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, sinusitis, acne and other skin conditions
